Insgesamt wurden dabei seit Anfang Januar 260 teilnehmende Personalverantwortliche befragt. Danach sagen bereits 18% der Personalentscheider bei nur einem Tippfehler Nein zu einem Kandidaten, Für 28% der Befragten ist mit dem zweiten Verschreiber Schluss, 24% sortieren ab Fehler Nummer 3 gnadenlos aus. Lediglich 9% der Befragten waren Rechtschreibfehler in der Bewerbung egal.

Gefragt wurde auch nach den generellen Todsünden einer Bewerbung. Hier landen die Schreibfehler mit 53% aller Nennungen (Mehrfachnennungen waren möglich) jedoch nur auf Platz 3. Deutlich ärgerlicher finden Personaler, wenn ihr Name, die Firmenadresse oder gar der Name des Unternehmens falsch geschrieben ist. Mit 69% aller Stimmen landet dieser Fauxpas auf Platz 1, gefolgt von einer unangemessenen, jargonhaften Sprache im Anschreiben (64%).

Auch dazu, ab wann man sich als Jobkandidat nach dem Stand der Bewerbung erkundigen darf, haben die Personaler eine klare Meinung: Fast die Hälfte der Befragten (45%) empfiehlt eine Wartezeit von mindestens zwei Wochen, 29% halten gar drei bis vier Wochen für eine angemessene Frist. Davon, sich um eine Begründung der Absage zu bemühen, raten indes 51% der Personaler dringend ab.
- 11 Prozent empfehlen sich nach einer Woche zu melden.
- 45 Prozent befürworten zwei Wochen Wartezeit.
- 29 Prozent halten drei bis vier Wochen für eine angemessene Frist.
- 15 Prozent raten, gar nicht nachzufragen.
Empfehlen Sie Bewerbern, sich im Falle einer Absage um eine Begründung zu bemühen?

Die Bewerbungsstudie 2010 zeigt zudem, dass Soziale Netzwerke, beziehungsweise die Online-Reputation des Bewerbers beim Auswahlprozess eine immer größere Rolle spielen. Knapp zwei Drittel der Personaler (62%) bestätigen, dass sie im Rahmen des Bewerbungsprozesses Online-Profile von Kandidaten überprüfen. Dabei nutzen sie vor allem Xing (69%), Facebook (57%) und StudiVZ (28%). Aber auch die allgemeine Websuche über Google und eventuell vorhandene Blogs der Bewerber spielt mit 63% der Nennungen eine entscheidende Rolle.

Die 38 Prozent der Personaler, die diese Online-Instrument bisher noch nicht einsetzen, wurden zudem gefragt, welche Vorbehalte sie haben oder warum sie das Internet bisher nicht nutzen. Bei den Antworten kristallisieren sich drei Motive:
- Entweder die Personaler nutzen Online-Recherchen nicht, weil sie keine Zeit und kein Personal dafür haben (was einige jedoch bald ändern wollen).
- Oder sie verzichten auf die Internet-Recherche, weil sie sich vom persönlichen Gespräch mehr erhoffen.
- Oder aber sie setzen derlei Werkzeuge nur gezielt ein (also doch) – dann aber für den engsten Kreis der Kandidatenauswahl.
